The Shaping of the Christian Family by Elisabeth Elliot

After raising four children (by the grace of God) and now being the grandmother of six, I love encouraging moms.

This book has been one of my top favorite’s to recommend regarding parenting. This is not a “ten step” approach to raising godly children. Instead it begins slowly as the author introduces the reader to her parents and their example of godliness. Then, through the lens of her family’s experience she illustrates a variety of principles for shaping a christian home.

Daily life, honesty, motherhood, and discipline are all similarly taught through a narrative memoir of Elliot’s childhood. In Elliot’s words, “The greatest need of families is holy parents.” Read this book to find encouragement and an illustration of godly parenthood.
