…who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was granted us in Christ Jesus from all eternity. 2Tim 1:9
As a pastor’s wife I have the wonderful privilege of asking women to come along side me to serve in our women’s ministry. Being in ministry is something I regard very highly because God’s word places an immense responsibility on those who represent Him and serve His people.
Yesterday I had the joy of meeting with a small group of women who are currently serving in our Tuesday evening women’s bible study. I asked the Lord to give me a vision as we entered the New Year. I wanted to know how I could most effectively encourage these women in their ministry to the women in our church. He led me to begin a series titled, “A Woman’s High Calling”. After our meeting I sensed that God wanted me to share this with all women who desire to discover God’s high calling in their lives and inspire others to do the same.
I know like myself many of us have been influenced by women who’s lives have showed an unswerving drive for God and unashamed commitment to Christ. Their passion sparks something way down inside us. These women know something more than just how to follow certain procedures for ministering to women. They leave an impression upon us that resonates within us that their purpose goes far beyond following the guidelines from a manual. So the question arises, “how do I become a woman of God’s high calling?”
In this series we will address something deeper than the “how to’s” of serving in the church. Rather, I want to share what God asks us “to become” as women who are saved and called with a holy calling. My hope is to ignite your calling as a woman of God. Take heart, this is a life long pursuit and personally I’m still learning. But I pray that God will use my experiences, lessons and (by the grace of Jesus) the triumphs of my journey as we join together in the pursuit of His calling.
Ask yourself this question: Has there ever been a time when I have seriously thought about God’s calling on my life as a woman?
“I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened (flooded with light-Amplified), so that you will know what is the hope of His calling…” Eph 1:18
