“For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.” 2Cor4:6
As write this post I’ve been thinking of how to put into words what will be my concluding thoughts on our series “A Woman’s High Calling”. I realize that this subject is so much bigger than a few devotions. It’s an ongoing discovery as you and I allow God’s word to work its transforming wonder in our lives.
Asking myself once again “what is it” about the women who’s faith and walk with God impacted my life and made me want to be all that God wants me to be?” I believe it’s because her calling is clear, she lives for God’s glory!
We all strive to want to know why we’re here and our purpose on this planet. That’s been the question of the ages. As women we look to images from the world or the of voices celebrity or a life coach to help us find our identity. When we think we’ve found the answer it doesn’t last long. We come right back to being conflicted and uncertain.
You and I live in a world that believes if we stand in front of a mirror we can find significance within ourselves. As one author put it, “this is the gospel of the fallen world but it is not the Christian gospel. The Christian gospel is about the glory of Christ- not about me.”
Mothers and daughters, wives and single women when we fully grasp the meaning and the magnitude of our salvation, our true purpose comes into view. We are made for His glory!
How freeing! When I live my life by this truth everything else that tries to compete with this reality simply cannot hold me in its grip for very long.
So the question must be asked, “how do we learn to live for God’s glory?” Ladies, there’s no substitute for daily time in God’s word. Not a daily bible app devo or a message streaming for our laptops. Spending time in our bibles alone with God is when we give Him His opportunity to do His best in our hearts. Then, we look to Jesus who’s whole existence was wrapped up for the glory of God. That’s how our calling becomes clear.
Let me leave this series with a word from my heart to yours. A Woman’s High Calling is a life long pilgrimage. This woman (the one writing this blog) has stumbled and is still often stubbing my big toe in pursuing God’s will for my life. But I know this, His mercies have been new every morning for thirty-five years. Great is His faithfulness!
Let’s continue pressing forward in humility, God’s grace and an undying passion to keep our calling clear.
