Col 3:1-3 Living Bible
…now set your sights on the rich treasures and joys of heaven Let heaven fill your thoughts; don’t spend your time worrying about things down here. You should have as little desire for this world as a dead person does. Your real life is in heaven with Christ and God.”
I firmly believe that life is a matter of perspective! The definition of perspective is a specific point of view in understanding or judging things or events. Most often our perspective of ourselves, others, and the life we are living here and now, will be shaped by three things. What God say’s, what the world thinks and our personal opinion. Ask yourself “who or what is influencing my perspective?
As my children grew into young adults I would challenge their perspective about life goals and pray for God’s purpose for their decisions. Why? Because ultimately that would matter in eternity. As I was having this conversation with one of my children over a cup of coffee the still small voice of God asked me, “are you choosing ultimately what matters for eternity?”
God reminded me that what I’m doing here on earth should be lived with my investment toward the life I will live in heaven.
Let me encourage you on how Living in Light of Eternity effects our lives.
1. Our priorities are transformed. “What do your and my priorities say about our eternal perspective?”
2. God’s purpose becomes our aim.
Only one life, yes only one,
Soon will its fleeting hours be done;
Then, in ‘that day’ my Lord to meet,
And stand before His Judgement seat;
Only one life,’twill soon be past,
Only what’s done for Christ will last.
3. We have peace in the midst of pain. Hardships happen!!! Yet, we are promised in 2 Cor 4:16-18, “For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison.”
4. We press onward. Phil 3:12 “but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus.”
Is it time to walk away from those things that have caused your passion for God and His kingdom to take a back seat in your life?
As christian women we must keep our focus on the view-point of divine purpose and our eternal destiny.
