“The Lord reigns let the earth rejoice”! Ps 97:1
Are you overwhelmed? Is there a situation, a heartache, a worry that is consuming your thoughts and emotions? I don’t know of anyone, myself included, who hasn’t experienced days and perhaps seasons of ongoing concern about something. If the issue is prolonged you start to feel as though your entire life is overshadowed with the problem.
Over the last couple of years God has revealed a ray of light when I find myself in the darkness of worry. It has become my personal prescription over all that concerns me.
One morning as I was taking a walk, I was at a loss for words about a particular circumstance that I had been in prayer about for quite awhile. It was just one of those mornings where I thought, “what else can I pray”? Suddenly, God’s Spirit got a hold of me. The Lord graciously yet clearly said, “get your focus off of this and on to Me”. At that moment I began to think about the attributes of God. One by one I took everything I knew to be true about God’s character and started focusing on those truths and praising Him for it.
What a wonder for the worried! I’m so grateful for God’s revelations and how He graciously shows us what is needed when we look to Him.
Here are some of the attributes of God and I pray that they will become your personal prescription for overcoming the overwhelming.
